Personality: Ciel's peaceful and kind attitude is mostly a disguise. In reality she's a cold individual with no other objective than that of eliminating Roa. However, after meeting Shiki, her priorities and personality gradually change. Ciel herself states that there's only one person to whom she wants to show her merciful side, that being Shiki. However, she has a certain affinity towards another Burial Agency member known as Tsubine. He is like an older brother to her. If she would work with anyone, it would be him or Shiki.
Certain influences of her time as Roa may maintain, as she is known to have a certain mischevious/sadistic streak. Ciel is a costume fetishist, having designed the outfit she wears when "on duty" personally. She also has a weakness for curry, which has been mentioned in several ways, such as her storing much curry in her apartment.

Magic Type: Ciel has a body with extremely high physical and magical potential. She can jump to the top of lamp posts with ease, leap from rooftop to rooftop and match the speed of vampires. With the training of the Burial Agency, Ciel can match most vampires and perhaps some lower ranking Dead Apostles alone. Although she has super-human strength, speed and reflexes, most Dead Apostles are still significantly stronger than she is; however, with the Seventh Holy Scripture, Ciel still poses a high threat to any Dead Apostle and perhaps even Arcueid. Her immortality is precisely why she is the #7 member of the Burial Agency, the seat reserved for one that acts alone, as she is unkillable until Roa's soul ceases to exist. This does not mean Ciel can just win all battles by herself; Shiki's Mystic Eyes of Death Perception can still erase her existence, and once she is killed once by an enemy, she can simply be killed repeatedly to prevent her from becoming a threat. She also has the knowledge Roa had, as she was his 17th host. This allows her to use magic along with the sacraments of the sacred church. Commonly, this magical ability manifests in her control of the Mystic Eyes of Whisper, allowing her to manipulate people to a limited extent, hypnotizing them into not doubting the words that she says, unless there is direct evidence otherwise. It was this technique that allowed her to infiltrate Shiki's school.

Weapons

• Name: BLACK KEYS

  Description: Black Keys are charms used by agents of the Church to repel demons. They took the form of blades and other weapon, usually in the form of long rapier-like swords or tridents/spears (although they are generally thrown as a dagger or used to stab opponents). They are considered to be symbolic, although their weak attack power, which is still enough to pierce concrete walls, and the amount of skill required to properly wield them causes them not to be used as often.
  Abilities: They excel at interfering with and damaging spiritual phenomena rather than damaging them physically. The effect on beings like Servants is truly dependant on the user but they are very effective against the creatures that are being hunted down by the Church, like the Dead Apostles. If they hit the shadow of a target, the target will be unable to move their body, leaving them to the mercy of the black key's wielder. It could also be used to track down and seal or injure a target until its wielder tells it to stop doing so, or unless it is destroyed or neutralized by an outside force. Expert Executors are capable of materializing the blades by passing prana through an object, such as pages of a bible, allowing them to carry and conceal hundreds of hilts at a time. This practice falls category of sacraments rather than thaumaturgy.

• Name: Seventh Holy Scripture

  Description: Ciel's ultimate weapon is the Seventh Holy Scripture, a conceptual weapon that resembles a large handheld cannon tipped with a spike, has the power to completely destroy an opponent; body and soul. The cannon appearance is created by Ciel herself, being manifested in that form by her own will. It weights 60kg, but that weight can double with optional parts. The spirit of the Seventh Holy Scripture was originally only referred to as 'Seven', even by Ciel, but after being tossed into a river and found by Inui Arihiko she was dubbed Nanako, (from the word "nana", or "seven", and the suffix -ko which in Japanese culture is used on a female character). She complains a lot about her current master and how she is treated, but she is still fairly loyal to her, as she has never had a master strong enough to make her appear in spirit form. It seems that only those who have formed a contract via blood can see and hear her at times, yet at other times others have indeed witnessed her, making this unclear.
  Abilities: The Church hunted a unicorn, a phantasmal beast, that was said to eat souls; the Seventh Holy Scripture was created by crossing the horn with the deceased spirit of a girl. The horn of the unicorn is used to prevent reincarnation. Although that is the final use, it is also used like a spear or a bayonet. It did have some dignity as a Scripture, until Ciel borrowed it and modified it as a pile bunker. When the bayonet shoots, what is discharged is really a page of the Bible, and the shell is one as well. It really was mainly a Conceptual Weapon usable on spirits, but as it was remodeled, it has now become a metal weapon that can shoot a vampire dead by physical power alone.

Background: Ciel (whose real first name is Elesia) was a normal individual born in France to a French father and an Oriental mother. However, unlike those around her, Elesia had a high magic potential, and it was this rare characteristic which ultimately put Roa inside her as his 17th host body after his 16th host body was killed without having chosen his next host body.

In the process, Ciel became a vampire and killed everyone in her village, the massacre only ending when Arcueid Brunestud arrived and killed her, part of her duty involving killing Roa whenever he reincarnates (ironic in itself since Arcueid was the one who made Roa a vampire to begin with). However, unlike previous hosts, Ciel returned to life after Roa had moved on to a new host.

The secret Vatican agency known as the Burial Agency arrived and captured her, and over the course of a month she was killed repeatedly by the Church, only to rise again on every occasion, a living paradox in that she was both Roa (in that she was a host for him) while Roa was also inhabiting another, making it impossible for her to permanently die until the paradox can be rectified with the death of Roa himself. Eventually, despite their usual views on sorcery, vampires, and the like, the Church decided to use her abilities as a member of the Burial Agency, her main desire and mission being the elimination of Roa to end her eternal existence.

Ciel, despite her appearance, is around 24 years old. She was stated to be born in 1976, and it's noted in the narratives that she was 16 at the time when she became a vampire. The time that it took Roa to manifest in his 17th host after his 16th host appeared is unknown, but it is known that the time between Roa's 15th host and Ciel's appearance was one hundred years. The time lapse between Roa's manifestation in his 17th host and the events of Tsukihime is eight years. Thus, Ciel is around 24 years old, though she has only been active for 21, taking in account of the three year coma that it took her her to resurrect after being killed by Arcueid.

After 17th Roa was defeated, Ciel returned to the Vatican to await further orders. With Roa dead, she was mortal again and began to age again. She met another member of the Burial Agency with a Conceptual Weapon much like the Seventh Holy Scripture during the destruction of one of the 27 Dead Apostles. The two became known together as the "Judge and Executioner." However, ten years after 17th Roa was defeated, 18th Roa appeared. During a battle with a TATARI-type spirit, she was stabbed through her neck. However, she did not die. This proved that Roa was back. Thus, Ciel returned to Japan along with Tsubine for a support role. This time, she is masquerading as a teacher rather than a student.
